George Washington University’s chapter of Turning Point USA has been widely criticized for a now deleted Instagram comment featuring a photo of white soldiers holding the flag of the Washington Commander’s old logo, prior to their modern rebranding to drop the previous, derogatory name. Critics accused the flag of not only celebrating a racist and outdated name, but also a team that was defeated handily in battle. “Celebrating the Commanders by calling them the R*dskins is a lot like celebrating Rhodesia instead of calling it Zimbabwe,” one critic stated. “Even if you can get over the racism attached to the name, you’re still celebrating complete and utter losers who could not win the only war they fought.” Most recently, the Washington Commanders were mercilessly defeated by anti-colonial forces of the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles.
