Lesbianism has been at the center of pop culture lately, and not in the demeaning ways I normally expect as a lesbian! To celebrate this era, here are some spectacularly sapphic moments that have been ingrained in my brain recently.
MUNA’s New Song, Dancing On The Wall

The title track for MUNA’s first new album, Dancing On The Wall, came out February 10, 2026. It’s their first new release in four years and it’s everything I’ve ever wanted and more. You can watch the video here, which I highly encourage because it’s genuinely one of the best music videos I’ve ever seen.
Doechii “came out” as Lesbian

The quotations are very intentionally there. She updated her new instagram page, @gutsgritglamour with the following description: “home life • wellness • books/essays • clubbing • lesbian • luxury • travel • beauty • music • side quests • fashion • film”

Seeing that, and seeing her not feeling the need to profess her sexuality, is something that makes me hopeful for the future of normalization. Coming out has really been made into a monolith, this dramatic moment where everything changes for a person, but in reality, they’ve just gotten closer to who they are.
Brandi Carlile Sang At The Superbowl
At the Pre-Game show of Superbowl LX, Brandi Carlile, a lesbian country music star, ravished in the spotlight, singing “America the Beautiful.” Her folk take on the song almost made me patriotic again. Almost.

A Sapphic Addition to Heated Rivalry?

Heated Rivalry’s Sophie Nélisse, who plays Rose Laundry, wants to do a spinoff featuring a relationship with co-star Ksenia Daniela Kharlamova, who plays Svetlana. Many lesbian fans of the gay hockey show have been aspiring for sapphic representation, specifically with Rose and Svetlana. If this comes to fruition, the lesbians will be in shambles. I will be in shambles. This small tidbit has fueled my own dreams of such a reality.
Shivering with Queer Antici…pation

Rocky Horror Picture Show is back! Not like it ever really left any sapphic person’s mind, but it’s back in the capitalist world of Broadway.

It has a lineup full of modern day queer excellence, in my opinion.

Girls Like Girls on the Big Screen

The trailer for the film Girls Like Girls dropped. My gay heart is screaming for this film. It’s produced by Hayley Kiyoko, one of the most well-known lesbian music artists. Her song, “Girls Like Girls,” came out in 2016. For every Gen-Z lesbian, this was one of our biggest parts of gay awakening. The movie is based on an excellent book that Kiyoko wrote, which I highly recommend everyone read beforehand. The trailer is here, and god I cannot wait for this movie.
Lesbian Lady Gaga’s New Album

Chrissy Chlapecka has announced a U.S. tour of her debut album, Christine. You might know Chlapecka from her TikTok fame, where she embraces a “bimbo” identity. Well, she’s a lesbian and is what I like to call the lesbian Lady Gaga. Her music is spectacular, thank me later.

That’s all.
